The Love Cambridge Charter

In response to feedback from our Members, Love Cambridge has now launched a Charter, which we hope you will be able to sign up to. The Charter has been developed to address three areas that we believe will help improve everyone’s experience of Cambridge making them want to come back again and again.  The Charter looks at promoting excellent customer service within the city, ways in which we can improve the physical appearance of our streets, and also offers guidance on how taking small steps in reducing your carbon emissions can contribute to tackling climate change.

What’s it in for you?

Our Charter invites all businesses and organisations within the city to sign up to working towards 10 basic principles. On signing up to the charter you will receive a copy of the charter to display to staff and a window sticker to inform the public that you are working towards the charter.  We will also provide some guidance notes giving clear and achievable suggestions on how to meet the charter criteria and will be listing all those signed up to the charter on our website for the public to see. Working with our media partner for the project, Cambridge News, we will be issuing regular press releases detailing those businesses that have signed up to the Charter.

Love Cambridge will also be hosting an awards ceremony later in the year where we will reward and recognise those businesses that have demonstrated best practise.  The awards will celebrate all elements of the charter.

Capital Grants Scheme

Love Cambridge is encouraging businesses across the city to work together collectively to improve the general external appearance of their businesses. The Capital Grant programme run by Cambridge City Council could help fund improvements in your street / area so that you can choose ways of improving your city.

Cambridge City Centre Management aims to improve and renew the city centre by developing partnerships with organisations that share those aims.  The Capital Grant Fund is available to cover up to 50% of the capital cost of your project.

Applications must:

*Enhance the vitality and/or economic viability of the city centre Or

*Improve the quality of the experience of people who use the city centre Or

*Make the city centre more attractive or cleaner Or

*Promote or inform people about the city centre Or

*Improve the commercial competitive position of the city centre Or

*Improve the quality of services and facilities in the city centre

How can the money be spent?

Applications should be for capital projects only. Capital Grants are not available for on-going, or running costs. If there are any on going or running costs associated with your project you need to tell us how these will be funded.

We will only fund new projects – we can’t replace existing funding

Who can apply?

We will consider applications from any groups based in the city. Projects must benefit people in Cambridge – this means residents, visitors, or people who come here to work or study.

Your application must show that you are working in partnership, or involve people working together in some way.

Your group should have a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. If your group does not have these, you should be able to show that you have clear aims, and are working towards setting up a formal structure. You can form a group easily for this project.

If you want to find out more about the City Centre Management Programme please contact Emma Thornton on 01223 457464
